A license was granted for weekly markets to Roger Bigod in 1285 and they have been a feature of Framlingham life ever since. The Tuesday Market is predominantly for local produce, such as fresh fish, meat, wholefoods, fruit & veg, eggs, flowers & garden plants and also ladies & gents underwear. It takes up the top half of the Hill, thus leaving the remainder for parking. The Saturday market is bigger, and in addition to the stalls above, you may find stained glass, antiques & collectables, ceramics, jewellery, clothes, home furnishings, artisan breads & pastries, home-made cakes etc. The Over The Moon Cafe trailer with speciality coffees, waffles, crepes,French pastries & croissants is in attendance both days - either to takeaway or sit with your coffee & waffle in the midst of the market, absorbing the relaxing & friendly atmosphere.
