It is all very well to complain that Nobody does
anything or Why doesn’t somebody do something? but who is
that somebody? It is YOU and YOU may be a voluntary body,
business, community group or interested individual; whatever your
role you need to be part of the Framlingham and District Development
Trust (FDDT). A report prepared by the
Civic Trust
identified the following needs
· Local Affordable Housing
· Sustainable tourism development
· Developing and retaining local skills
· Community infrastructure and events
· Local business development and support
All of these are very worthy objects but the
translation from word to deed involves a great deal of time
and effort but most of all full community support.
Join the FDDT today. It costs nothing but a little
time and an enthusiasm to help the community. Contact

You may be aware the FDDT made a bid for the
Drill Hall in New Road but sadly we were outbid by a
commercial venture. However we are still looking for
another project with the same scope for providing an asset
to the community. Do you know of a location?

ideas for premises or projects.

We have obtained grant funding for a
display trailer and this is
available for hire with discounted rates for community
groups. If you want to enlist support or merely raise
awareness of your project hire the trailer and make an
impact. (Contact Mary Thompson 01728 747003)

Why do we need a Development Trust?
Development Trusts provide the vehicle for
communities to get active, build their skills, deliver
practical change and recover their belief in themselves and
each other. Development Trusts help foster a new
spirit of enterprise helping to create wealth in communities
and they have enabled many communities to re-launch
themselves on a path to sustainable growth.
