News in Briefs
Fri 5th Feb

At last night's Council meeting, Jane Lelliott was co-opted onto the Council - thus leaving just one vacancy, for which there has been expressions of interest. The police report for January recorded 7 reported crimes compared to 12 during the same month last year. It was thought the snow etc had dampened criminal tendencies! The application for development at 21 Vyces Rd came before the District Council planning committee on Wednesday. This application has caused great consternation to those living nearby - their reservations being supported by the Town Council. Rather frustratingly, at the meeting on Wednesday the vote was split down the middle, and a casting vote by the Chairman resulted in the application being approved. Tomorrow [Sat] there is a coffee morning at The Crown in aid of the Haiti earthquake victims. Today representatives from the Town Council have gone to a meeting organised by Suffolk County Council, [which is responsible for roads/pavements] called The Big Freeze. It is hoped a strategy will result to cope with winter weather a little better in the future. Incidentally, some readers have misunderstood the note in the February edition of Framfare - it is still edited & published by Steph Bennell - it is the magazine's WEBSITE which is under new management. The online version of the Feb issue is now available- just visit framfare.com/publications
