Two important initiatives in Framlingham have been delayed by restrictions made necessary by the Covid 19 pandemic. Whilst these limitations still apply, we are keen to have teams in place to begin work on the projects as soon as conditions allow.
The Framlingham Neighbourhood Plan set out a policy to support the improvement of cycling infrastructure in and around the town. As much of the major work on walkway routes has now been completed, we are looking to set up a new working group to assess what might be done to make cycling a more attractive and safer transport option.
The Council regularly receives communications from residents about speeding on approaches to Framlingham. For some time we have mounted our SID (Speed Indicator Device) on various main roads into and out of town but the Council has now also acquired a hand-held speed monitoring machine together with the appropriate PPE.
We now need volunteers to help with these projects. The Police Officer assigned to Framlingham will instruct the Speed Watch group before deployment and both groups will be led by Town Councillors.
Please contact the Council Office if you would like to help with either – or both – of these initiatives or if you would like more information.
