On April 6th 2020 Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) will be implemented throughout East Suffolk. From this date parking offences will become civil rather than criminal offences and enforcement of parking restrictions in towns such as Framlingham becomes the responsibility of the local authority, in our case East Suffolk District Council.

This affects both on-road and off-road parking, though changes to the latter will initially be more significant.

ESC is introducing standardised charges throughout the district for off-road parking (ie car parks). There will be two scales of charges, depending on the size of town, and Framlingham will be included in the lower of these scales – though a special charging scheme has been agreed for Market Hill.

From April 6th The Elms and Market Hill will join the Fore Street car park to provide pay and display parking. New parking meters will be installed in all three car parks.

For The Elms and Fore Street charges will be:
Up to 2 hours £1
Up to 4 hours £2
All day £4

For Market Hill the charge will be £1 for up to 2 hours with no return for the following 2 hours.

For short-term parking all three car parks will have the option of 30 minutes free parking available through the pay and display machines or by using the RingGo app.

These charges will apply from Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm.

The rules for on-road parking – yellow lines, limited time zones etc – will not change but these restrictions will be more effectively enforced. Enforcement Officers will be patrolling the town more frequently than at present and will operate seven days a week.
