The Friends of St Michael’s Church now have details of the programme of music for their fund-raising concert on Wednesday 27th June at 7pm performed by the Choir of Jesus College Cambridge in St Michael’s Church. There will be approximately 30 choristers and the string quartet CantiaQuorum accompanying the choir in the 2nd half.

Sacred Music of the Renaissance – by Byrd, Palestrina and Phillips.  Sacred Music of the Modern Era with Rachmaninoff, Schubert and Muhly.  This will be followed by Purcell’s Voluntary for Double Organ played on the Thamar organ. Then Secular Music From Around the World:- See the Shepherds’ Queen – Tomkins; Varnatt – Stenhammer; And So it Goes – Billy Joel; Two For the price of One – arr. Andrew Carter.

Refreshments will be available at the interval.

After which the Choir will perform Rheinberger’s Mass in E flat  and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs.

Tickets are £10 or £15 reserved seats and can be booked  at or purchased by calling in at  the Town Council Office on Thursday/Mon/Tues or on Saturday morning at the Town Sign on Market Hill.
