Suffolk County Council have contacted the Town Council asking for people’s views on the footpaths from Mount Pleasant to New Road and Brook Lane. At present the route people take does not follow the established legal rights of way. The County Council have suggested realigning the legal routes to reflect what is currently walked, and to upgrade the path through the wood as a bridleway. This would mean losing a part of the old footpaths.
The Town Council is asking residents for their views on whether to keep the existing routes and realigning the routes actually used as a formal bridleway and footpaths (option 1), or simplifying the route by establishing new rights of way and removing the historical routes across the field (option 2).
