The Town Council is investigating the possibilities of a CCTV system for the town covering Albert Place, Well Close Square, Bridge Street, Market Hill and Crown & Anchor Lane, with the possibility of including the Elms And Fore Street car parks. Small dome shaped cameras would be placed discretely on lamp posts around the town and the data will only be accessed by the Police.

The objective is to deter crime and disorder and to detect those responsible allowing the Police to take appropriate action.
Inspector Mark Jackson has said: “CCTV on its own will not prevent crime from occurring. It will however provide a very useful tool to help reduce crime and help to identify those that are caught on camera committing crime”

Quotations have been sought and in order to put a proposal forward to Full Council for approval in principle and considered funding from the local CIL budget evidence of need is required.

Therefore, we would be keen to hear the views of residents and business owners in the town and would be grateful if you would take the time to complete the questionnaire. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD, VIEW AND PRONT THE SURVEY BELOW
